On Friday October 6, 2023, LabEx Entreprendre organized two round-table discussions on the themes of “Innovation and Sustainability” and “The state of entrepreneurial activity in France: assessment and outlook”.

The event brought together some 120 people at the Maison des Etudiants Aimé Schoenig at the University of Montpellier.

The first round table, moderated by Jean-Marie Courrent (MoMa), was an opportunity for Franck Aggeri (Ecole des Mines Paris PSL) to present his book “L’innovation, mais pour quoi faire?” (Seuil, 2023), in which he questions the myth of innovation. Philippe Mutricy (Bpifrance) put the book’s main ideas into perspective, demonstrating how financing innovation can help meet today’s economic, environmental and social challenges.

In the second round table, Sophie Casanova (MoMa), Frank Lasch (MBS), Karim Messeghem (MoMa) and Justine Valette (MoMa) presented the results of the 2023 GEM France report on the country’s entrepreneurial situation. Grégory Blanvillain (CPME Hérault) and Marie-Thérèse Mercier (Région Occitanie), commented on these results, shedding light on the specific context of the Hérault and Occitan regions.
